Rockets' coach Ime Udoka gets historic contract update

The Rockets had a fantastic season, despite being eliminated in the first round as the number two seed.

Some of that credit goes to Rockets' Head Coach Ime Udoka, who was just rewarded for leading the way to Houston's best record in an NBA season since 2018-19.

What was Ime Udoka's contract update?

ESPN's Shams Charania reported Thursday that Houston gave a hefty contract extension to current Head Coach Ime Udoka.

This will reportedly make him "one of the highest-paid coaches in the NBA."

RealGM reported that the contract will be worth over $10 million per season.

Only a handful of current NBA coaches make an eight-figure per year salary, including Steve Kerr, Erik Spoelstra, Tyronn Lue and Doc Rivers.

All these coaches have one thing in common, and that's winning championships.

You don't get paid a salary with that high of an AAV unless you are a championship-level coach.

The Rockets seem to think that Udoka will be that coach when Houston makes the next big step to become a contender.
