Robert Lewandowski has addressed the ongoing speculation about his future at Barcelona amid rumors that he could leave the club at the end of the season. The Polish striker said the situation isn’t about what Barcelona wants or does, admitting that he has yet to decide if he will extend his stay at the club.
Since joining Barca in 2022, Lewandowski has scored a handful of goals for the the Catalan club every season, consistently contending for the Pichichi Trophy. The 38-year-old marked his return to the starting XI with a hat-trick as Barca ran over Celta Vigo in a 4-2 away victory.
However, with age cataching up to him and his contract running out next summer, speculation is rife that this campaign could be Lewandowski’s last season at Barcelona.
During a press conference while on international duty with Poland, Lewandowski asked if he was awaiting a move from Barca’s end in terms of a new contract offer, to which he said:
“In truth, the matter isn’t about the club’s move. The most important thing is that I myself find an answer to the question: What do I want to do? And so far, I haven’t arrived at a clear answer for myself yet. I’m not in a hurry; I feel an inner calm, and that’s the most important thing. Even if we assume the club comes now, I won’t respond. Because it also depends on my sense of what is best and most appropriate for me.”So far this season, Lewandowski has scored seven goals for the Blaugrana in 12 appearances across competitions. He played a key role in the club’s run to the domestic treble last season, scoring 42 goals across competitions.
