Ivanna Lisette Ortiz, who was arrested for allegedly shooting at Rihanna‘s Los Angeles mansion on March 8, pleaded not guilty to an attempted murder charge in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday (March 25).
According to Reuters, the 35-year-old also pleaded not guilty, through an attorney, to more than a dozen additional felony charges. Ortiz is accused of firing more than 10 shots from a semiautomatic weapon into Rihanna and A$AP Rocky’s Los Angeles home earlier in March, while the famed couple was home with their three children.
No injuries were reported as a result of the gunfire, as prosecutors explained that the family was in a trailer on the property at the time of the shooting.
In total, the Florida native faces one count of felony attempted murder as well as 10 felony counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and three felony counts of shooting at an occupied dwelling.
Ortiz’s bail was set at $1,875,000. She faces up to life in state prison if convicted when the case heads to trial. “This is the kind of conduct that easily could have resulted in numerous homicides,” deputy district attorney Alexander Bott told the court, per Reuters.
Ortiz fled the scene following the shooting and was apprehended in a Tesla by Los Angeles police shortly after the 911 call came in on March 8. The suspect was found with a wig, the rifle in question and seven shell casings.
The 35-year-old has had legal issues in Florida in the past. She was arrested in a bankruptcy case in 2013, arrested for careless driving in 2021 and arrested again in 2023 on suspicion of domestic violence and battery.
While there’s no connection between Rihanna and Ortiz, the Los Angeles Times noted that Ortiz made several posts about the superstar singer on Facebook. On Feb. 17, she posted a meme suggesting that Rihanna had an STI and made another post on Feb. 23, writing, “@badgirlriri Are you there? Cause I was waiting for your AIDS 5-head self to say something to me directly instead of sneaking around like you talking to me where I’m not at.”
Billboard has reached out to the District Attorney’s Office as well as Ortiz’s attorney.
