Ricky Martin Says He Needs "Several Hours to Process" His Super Bowl Halftime Appearance
Ricky Martin is livin’ la vida rubio.
The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer stepped out at the 83rd annual Venice Film Festival for the screening of his upcoming film Hombre al Aqua sporting a bold new buzzcut and honey blond hair.
At the Sept. 6 screening, Martin posed alongside costars Débora Nascimento, Jorge Salinas, Gael García Bernal and Esmeralda Pimentel. To keep all eyes on his new hair transformation, the Grammy winner opted for a white double-breasted jacket and wide-leg black slacks. He topped off his look with a signature silver chain around his neck and a pair of purple-tinted shades.
Martin first debuted his new look while arriving in Venice for the film festival, putting yet another head-turning look on display. While cruising up to the press conference in a water taxi, Martin wore a blue silk dress shirt, complete with a gray tweed suit and a patterned tie draped around his neck.
Noting his role in the film—a dramedy that follows a Cuban lifeguard getting wrapped up in a job supporting a wealthy Mexican businessman—also marked his Venice debut, the 54-year-old called the experience “wonderful,” adding that the milestone was a “very important page” in the book of his career.
“I've been in front of the cameras since I was 12, but at 54, to say that this is the first time I'm working, being part of a film cast at the Venice Film Festival, is very important to me,” Martin said during the Venice panel Sept. 6, lauding costar and director Bernal for casting him. “For me, for my children, and for a legacy, because I will always be grateful for this man who has brought me to this tsunami.”

And though Martin’s role in the film is relatively minor, the “María” singer emphasized that the film is incredibly important to him.
"My part was very short, but it still resonates with me,” he explained, “I've already seen the movie once and it still resonates with me.”
And considering Bernal’s decorated onscreen career includes hit films like Coco and Y Tú Mama También, Martin—dad to four kids—admitted that even a small role was an opportunity he couldn’t pass up.

"I had to be part of it,” Martin mused. “It's an intelligent film, with a beautiful eye. The setting was spectacular.”
Further celebrating Bernal, he added, “When he calls you, you're there. You don't think twice.”
