Kenya Moore has finally addressed the circumstances around her suspension from Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 16 after she allegedly showed sexually explicit footage of her then co-star, Brittany Eady, during a public event.
According to a report from Entertainment Tonight at the time, “Kenya was suspended for allegedly depicting Brittany performing a sexual act at the grand opening of her Kenya Moore Hair Spa in Atlanta, from images allegedly found online. The network is still reviewing the content Kenya displayed during filming.”
Moore took “full accountability” for the situation during a recent appearance on The Tamron Hall Show but maintained that it happened after several threats were allegedly made against her at the time.
The Bravo star explained to Tamron Hall, “There was a young lady that was new, and she just was poking the bear.” She said new cast members sometimes “come on and try to make a name for themselves,” until “things took like a really dark turn toward me” this time.
Moore claimed Eady “escalated to the point of tearing off mics, screaming all kind of obscenities at me and threatening me” during taping, to the point that Moore became concerned.
But she did not feel like the RHOA producers were taking her concerns seriously.
“I didn’t feel like I was being protected and I took matters into my own hands. I did my research on her,” she said. “I found a lot of information, especially in the explicit world, with a few clicks with people helping me. I didn’t get things sent to me, photos or videos that I did see that were allegedly her.”
Moore ultimately expressed regret for the situation.
“If I could do it all over again — I believe the photos were very distasteful and I elevated the situation,” she said. “I’m taking full accountability for the thing that I’ve done. I am sorry for what I’ve done. I didn’t have to take it that far.”
She continued, “But when I felt threatened, I never had a child and be in a situation like this before, so that’s why I escalated it to the point where I was protecting not only myself but my child.”
Moore was swiftly suspended from the show but she clarified that she has not been fired. In fact, there is still a chance that she could return to the franchise, especially as she still has Andy Cohen‘s support.
“I think it’s important to have my point of view because I haven’t done interviews, I haven’t had my say,” she said. “It’s unfortunate because I started off as a housewife — longest-running on this series — and now I don’t have a voice and that’s really hard.”
The housewife added that she is still under contract, which means there is a chance she could attend the Season 16 reunion.
