Respected analyst urges Seahawks to make blockbuster trade for Trey Hendrickson

The Seattle Seahawks pass rush group finished the 2024 season tied for eighth in quarterback sacks with a total of 45.

Although the Seahawks had a solid group of pass rushers last year, there isn't a superstar that teams have to game plan around. The last time the team had an edge rusher reach a 10-plus-sack season was Frank Clark in 2018.

The Seahawks can fix that issue with a single trade. In a recent interview on the Brock & Salk show on Seattle Sports, highly respected analyst Daniel Jeremiah advocated for the team to trade for first-team All-Pro edge rusher, Trey Hendrickson, who could end up on the block due to a contract dispute

"Heck Yeah. I’d be in the business of trying to collect great players and they’ve got a fast defense," Jeremiah said. "They’ve got a very talented defense, but man, you throw in a guy like that who’s going to get off the bus and get you 12 to 15 sacks because he’s such a good, natural, instinctive pass rusher.

"And you’re in a division where you got to go hunt Matthew Stafford. 100 percent I would try and be in on that. They’re a good defense now and they’re a fast defense and they’re athletic and they’ve added some more young pieces," he added.

Hendrickson led the NFL in sacks in 2024 with an impressive 17.5. Pro Football Focus also ranked Hendrickson as the seventh-best edge rusher in the league.

When asked if Hendrickson, 30, can still be productive in the following years, Jeremiah didn't hesitate to state that the All-Pro won't be slowing down anytime soon.

"This dude is a technician," Jeremiah said. "He’s not even just a power base rusher or a speed rusher. He does everything well, but he just has an instinct and a feel and a knack. And those guys, I think that prolongs their run a little bit provided he stays healthy. He just knows how to rush.”

With a blockbuster trade that would send Hendrickson to the Seahawks, the team's already solid pass rush would become one of the best in the league.
