The New York Giants made a big splash this offseason when they sent defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals for the 10th pick in the NFL Draft. The Giants now have the No. 5 pick and the 10th pick to give new head coach John Harbaugh a wider pool of talent to choose from.
Despite making one blockbuster trade to better their chances of rebuilding the roster, the Giants are unlikely to trade another one of their defensive players to acquire more draft capital.
The New York Giants are “less likely” to trade edge Kayvon Thibodeaux after the Dexter Lawrence trade
After trading Lawrence to the Bengals, the Giants don’t appear likely to trade edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux, according to NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport. Rapoport reported that the Giants had received offers on Thibodeaux, but with Lawrence gone, the Giants need someone to fill his shoes.
The #Giants, who had gotten trade calls centered around edge Kayvon Thibodeaux for the last few months, are now considered less likely to trade him following the blockbuster deal sending Dexter Lawrence to the #Bengals, sources say.

Thibodeaux was limited to 10 games for the Giants last season after a shoulder injury derailed his season in December. The 25-year-old finished the season with 2.5 sacks (career-low) and 13 solo tackles.
When healthy, Thibodeaux is one of the better outside linebackers in the game, as he’s two seasons removed from having 11.5 sacks and 26 solo tackles in 2023. Returning to the Giants healthy next season, Thibodeaux will be counted on to be who he was in 2023 now that Lawrence is gone.
The Giants had one of the worst defenses last season, ranking in the bottom five for total defense (359.5 yards) but 16th in passing defense (214.2 yards).
