Prince Harry and Meghan Markle share memories and family traditions

Meghan Markle shared how Disneyland was a childhood treat growing up in Los Angeles. As a “Southern California girl,” she said the park was “more accessible” for her than for many families, but remained a major event. One of her favorite visits was for Grad Night, when high school seniors visit Disneyland after hours, saying,

"I don’t even know why they let us do that. It’s so much fun."

Prince Harry’s earliest memory was the 1993 family trip with his mother, Princess Diana, and brother Prince William. Prince Harry described the trip as overwhelming in the best way, adding that the rollercoaster Space Mountain was his favorite back then, saying

"Space Mountain was one of my favorite things."

Meghan Markle added,

"Still one of your favorite rides, by the way."

A photo from the trip showed the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the ride, yelling as they rounded the tracks.

The June trip marked Princess Lilibet’s fourth birthday and included rides, treats, and a Little Mermaid–themed cake featuring Ariel, according to PEOPLE on September 21, 2025.

In an Instagram video montage posted by Meghan Markle on June 7, 2025, the family is seen posing in matching Mickey Mouse hats, meeting Elsa from Frozen, and enjoying multiple attractions.

The video also captured moments before the family entered the park. Harry said Archie and Lilibet were already thrilled before seeing anything inside. “They’re like, ‘This is amazing!’” he recalled. “I told them, ‘Guys, this isn’t even the front of it. Prepare yourself. You’re about to be blown away.’”

Meghan noted that Archie, born May 6, 2019, was already asking about his own future birthday celebration after watching his sister’s experience. “Archie said, ‘When’s my birthday?’” She shared during the broadcast.

The Happiest Story on Earth: 70 Years of Disneyland featured several celebrities sharing Disney memories, including Neil Patrick Harris, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jon Favreau, and Tiffany Haddish. The special aired September 21, 2025, one day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle attended Kevin Costner’s One805LIVE! event in Carpinteria, California.

At the event, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex presented the Heart of the Community Award to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department’s Peer-to-Peer mental health program.
