Right now, the Boston Red Sox are one of the teams at the center of a lot of trade rumors just two months before the deadline. Many think they will be sellers, as they do have the pieces to do so.
Although, they truly have the pieces to win as well, and just need one or two players to get their season turned around. It seems now they need to weigh their options, and that the months of June and July will decide the immediate future of the franchise.
The sellers’ camp think Boston should blow up

Many insiders believe the Red Sox will be sellers, especially at the trade deadline. They are already getting calls about multiple relievers, as they have the best bullpen in the American League. They are also shopping catcher Connor Wong, with the breakthrough of Mickey Gasper.
If Boston were to blow up, any chances of seriously contending would be out the door for the next couple seasons, especially if they empty out their bullpen. With that in mind, considering the opposite might be their best approach.
Boston has had worse odds and still succeeded

Last season, even though the Red Sox had three more wins than they do currently, they only had a 12.5% chance of making the playoffs. This season, they have a 25.2% chance.
This is mostly due in part to the fact the American League is extremely weak this year. In the Wild Card race, only two teams have positive records. Because of that, the Red Sox are only 3.5 games behind the final slot in the Wild Card.
So, the Red Sox should consider actually being buyers at the deadline, especially if they are still within shooting range of the playoffs.
Boston has the pieces; they just need to fall correctly

Right now, the Red Sox are missing arguably the two biggest pieces of their franchise: All-Star ace Garrett Crochet, and their AL ROTY finalist Roman Anthony. If those two can come back at full strength and shake off their early season problems, Boston could be a true threat.
If that’s the case, the Sox getting another superstar slugger bat, preferably a righty, should be at the top of their priorities. If they can get that, any notion of trading a star on their squad should be promptly be erased.
