The Boston Red Sox’s offense looked like it was finally starting to heat up last month, with multiple players going on streaks at the plate.
However, now it seems that with the new month of June, whatever was clicking just stopped, as the offense stagnates once again. With this, the Red Sox need someone, preferably multiple people, to get hot once again.
Boston was rocking in May

While the Red Sox only had a record of 12-14 in May, they were finally showing signs of life offensively.
As a team, they slashed .265/.330/.406, which was second, sixth and ninth place in the MLB. Wilyer Abreu, Willson Contreras, Jarren Duran and Ceddanne Rafaela led the charge offensively for the Sox, putting together good at-bats and knocking in a bunch of runs.
However, something changed with the flipping of the calendar.

In the six games they have played in June so far, the Sox have fallen apart offensively. They are 2-4, which has put them 4.5 games back from the final spot of the AL Wild Card. Many players have gone cold, with Duran being the one of the worst falloffs after a hot May.
Statistically, they are back to being one of the worst offensive teams in the MLB as well. They are 24th in AVG with .244, 28th in OBP with .263, and 27th in both SLG and OPS, with .367 and .631 respectively.
On top of that, they are 29th in wRC+ with 69 (league average is 100), tied for last in home runs with five, and only have 19 runs scored, which is 28th in the MLB. They've also only scored two runs in their past 22 innings.
It’s make-or-break time for Boston

Right now, the Red Sox are 27-37, 10 games below .500. Even with that record, however, the Red Sox are, once again, only 4.5 games out of the Wild Card.
So, if they can somehow find the May mojo once again, and get a hot streak going, they could be right back in the middle of contention.
If that happens, making a trade for a superstar to solidify their contending spot may be the solution fans have been waiting for the front office to make.
