Red Sox predicted to send Gold Glove outfielder to Royals in wild blockbuster

The Boston Red Sox are struggling. They snapped a six-game losing streak on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays, but are still 41-43 and seven games back in the American League East.

However, they are still close in the Wild Card race, and Craig Breslow has stated that he hopes to buy rather than sell at the trade deadline.

They need help with their starting rotation, as their big acquisitions, with the exception of Garrett Crochet, have all disappointed.

Kerry Miller of Bleacher Report made a wild prediction, that Boston would trade Wilyer Abreu to the Kansas City Royals for Kris Bubic.

"Aside from Garrett Crochet, Boston's pitching has been wildly disappointing. And with both Walker Buehler and Lucas Giolito likely to be out of the picture this offseason, a multi-year solution would be preferable," Miller wrote.

While the Red Sox would be giving up a Gold Glove outfielder, acquiring Bubic could give them the push to get back in the race.

With Kanas City, the 27-year-old left-hander is 6-5 with a 2.18 ERA and 3.1 WAR in 15 starts. He would instantly boost the Red Sox rotation while the Royals would acquire a much-needed bat.

Abreu is hitting .255/.324/.477 with 14 home runs, 40 RBI and an .801 OPS. However, Boston can afford this potential loss, as top prospect Roman Anthony is now in the big leagues.

To clear an everyday spot for Anthony, somebody might be traded away, and Abreu could be that piece, as Jarren Duran is unlikely to be moved.

It will be interesting to see if Boston considers this potential deal.
