The Boston Red Sox can't get Rafael Devers back.
But they can, in essence, reverse dealing away one superstar by getting talent back in another deal, now with a lot of cap space to work with.
That's what the Red Sox will look to do before the MLB trade deadline.
"The Red Sox are gonna add before the trade deadline," ESPN's Jeff Passan said on The Pat McAfee Show. "... They are legitimate World Series contenders."
The Red Sox enter the All-Star break at 53-45. They're just a game back of the Yankees and three games back of AL East leaders Toronto.

There's work to be done, but Boston is in the race, for sure.
The Red Sox could probably use pitching more than they need bats at this point, and there are enticing pitchers out there.
Boston has a great prospect list and lots of cash to work with. Passan's foreshadowing seems like it could come to fruition - at least the trade part of it.
