Red Sox loyalist presents balanced Jarren Duran to Royals trade scenario

Since making his big league debut in 2021, Jarren Duran has established himself as an important player for the Boston Red Sox.

Despite this, the outfielder may be on the move this winter, as the Red Sox are reportedly open to trading him in exchange for a top of the rotation starting pitcher.

According to analyst and content creator Robbie Hyde, trading for Kansas City Royals starting pitcher Cole Ragans may be the best course of action.

"The Red Sox should ask (the Royals) for (Cole) Ragans," Hyde said (Timestamp: 26:51). "Listen, the Royals, they need (Jarren) Duran more than the Red Sox need him. The Royals need bats, the Red Sox can make it work. If the Royals want Duran, they're going to have to pay a nice price."

Hyde also considered the possibility that the Royals are likely to ask for more than just Jarren Duran if they are to part ways with Cole Ragans.

"Now, I will say this. It wouldn't be Ragans for Duran," Hyde added (Timestamp: 27:22). "I think that's an unfair trade for the Royals. I think (for) Ragans, you should be giving up Duran and more. So, I don't know. "I do think Ragans will have to be the guy the Red Sox get back. You would have to give more than Duran, in my personal opinion. But without Ragans, I don't see a way you can make it work."

In addition to the Kansas City Royals, analyst and former excecutive Jim Bowden claims organizations such as the Philadelphia Phillies, LA Dodgers, Detroit Tigers, Cleveland Guardians and Texas Rangers may also be keeping tabs on Jarren Duran.

Red Sox insider colloquially known as "Gordo" posted about Bowden's claims to X.

“(Jarren) Duran’s name keeps coming up in trade rumors and it now sounds like the Red Sox will move on from him this winter,” Bowden said. “Teams such as the Phillies, Dodgers, Tigers, Guardians and Rangers would love to land him. He’s also controllable through the 2028 season, so it would take a huge haul for the Red Sox to move him."

Under team control for three more seasons, Jarren Duran is not eligible to enter free agency until 2029.
