The Boston Red Sox’ final stretch to the playoffs has been rough, with their offense not being able to score in easy situations. However, a saving grace could be upon them.
According to the Red Sox, Gold Glove outfielder Wilyer Abreu is back from the IL.

“The #RedSox today reinstated outfielder Wilyer Abreu from the 10-Day Injured List. To make room on the active roster, Boston designated catcher Ali Sánchez for assignment,” the Sox posted on X.
Getting Abreu back brings a lot of needed pop back into the offense. Before his injury, Abreu was contributing a line of .253/.325/.486/.811 with 16 doubles, 22 home runs, and 69 RBI.

Missing both Abreu and rookie star Roman Anthony was a huge blow to the Sox’ offensive capabilities. With a chance to sweep the Tampa Bay Rays tonight and series against the Toronto Blue Jays and the Detroit Tigers to close the season, getting Abreu back was crucial.
Hopefully Abreu is the answer to the Sox’ immediate problems, and helps them lock themselves into the playoffs for the first time in four seasons.
