The Boston Red Sox are having a brutal 2026 season. They've fired Alex Cora, are 13-20, and look like they're headed straight for a fire-sale come this August third at the trade deadline.
There are a few players who could be on the move this year, and one of the top names to keep in mind is, once again, Jarren Duran.
According to USA Today's Bob Nightengale, a few months ahead of the deadline, Duran has already emerged as a "hottest commodity" for this year's deadline.
Jarren Duran is a hot commodity for 2026 trade deadline
"The hottest commodity at the trade deadline is expected to be Miami Marlins ace Sandy Alcantara, and the Boston Red Sox could trade left-handed outfielder Jarren Duran before the Aug. 3 deadline," Nightengale writes.
The Red Sox own one of the worst records in the sport, and with a crowded outfield, trading one at this year's deadline would make a ton of sense.
Duran, someone who's been floating in trade rumors for a year now, especially this past offseason, could finally be on the move.

Craig Breslow hasn't parted with Duran yet, and he might've missed his window. He was a solid player last year, posting a 117 OPS+ for the Red Sox. This year? Not so much, as he has just a 46 OPS+ on the season.
But, even though Duran isn't as elite as he once was, a team might be willing to take a chance on the former All-Star game MVP, who is 29 years old and under club control for the next two and a half seasons.
Boston might not get the strong return they were hoping for, or they could've got last year, or this past offseason, but Duran is a name to watch for the Red Sox and in MLB at this year's trade deadline.
