The Boston Red Sox could be in the market for a new first baseman at the trade deadline. While their platoon at first base has not been terrible, they could still benefit from an upgrade.
After Triston Casas went down, Romy González and Abraham Toro have seen time at first base. However, the Baltimore Orioles, who look set up to be sellers, could have a better option for the Red Sox.
Ryan O'Hearn was an All-Star this season for the first time, and he will be a free agent after the season. FanSided's Robert Murray tabbed the Red Sox as a fit for O'Hearn at the trade deadline.
"The Orioles have already made one intra-division trade," wrote Murray. "Why not another? The Red Sox are in position to buy at the deadline and with the right series of moves, could be a World Series contender even after trading Rafael Devers. O’Hearn would give them certainty throughout the season at first base and bolster the lineup. It’s a move that makes plenty of sense, with Josh Naylor of the Arizona Diamondbacks looming as another potential fit."
O'Hearn is slashing .286/.382/.458 with 11 home runs and 34 RBIs. If the Orioles plan on moving on after this season anyway, he would be a prime trade chip. The Orioles figure to be very active at the deadline, and the Red Sox could take advantage.

The Red Sox have gotten a .687 OPS from first base this season. O'Hearn and his .840 OPS would be a clear upgrade for a Red Sox lineup that is looking to play in October.
