Roman Anthony is ready.
The Boston Red Sox just don't have a spot for their top prospect.
MLB.com's Sam Dystrka explained the conundrum in a new report:
"On merit, it could come at any time," Dykstra wrote of a promotion. "Triple-A pitchers aren’t giving Anthony much to hit, and he’s willing to take the free passes given to him instead of pressing. In reality, it might take an injury to one of the outfield mainstays or DH Rafael Devers to open up a lane for Anthony. And no, don’t expect him to play first base either."
The Red Sox outfield currently features Jarren Duran, Ceddanne Rafaela and Wilyer Abreu.
Anthony is hitting.323/.455/.513. He's got eight doubles, two triples, six homers, 18 RBI and three steals. He has walked 40 times compared to 39 strikeouts.

His time is coming.
Boston fans won't want to root for an injury, of course, but they also want to see Anthony in Fenway Park.
It'll just take a bit of misfortune to reach that moment, apparently.
