Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. grabbed headlines on Wednesday when he disclosed that he doesn't receive any in-game advice from coaches and teammates on the sidelines. Penix's comments went viral on social media, with many taken aback by the lack of support for the Atlanta QB.

On Thursday, analyst Jason Whitlock slammed Falcons coach Raheem Morris and the team's front office after Penix claimed that he has no mentorship on the field.

"I'm struggling to blame Penix or (Kirk) Cousins," Whitlock said on his "Fearless" show. "I can't do it. I would blame Arthur Blank (Falcons owner), the general manager (Terry Fontenot) and the head coach.

"You can't hire a guy at $50 million a year, and then draft his replacement immediately. That's a recipe for chaos. ... There are people within that organization, within that coaching staff that are all in with Cousins and then there's probably another group that's all in with Penix Jr."

The Falcons signed Cousins to a four-year, $180 million deal in the 2024 offseason. They also drafted Penix with the No. 8 pick last year.

After Cousins' struggles last season, Atlanta named Penix its QB1 in December. The second-year QB has retained his starting role this season.

However, the Falcons are third in the NFC North with a 3-6 record. They are on a four-game losing streak and face an uphill battle to make the playoffs.

Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons will face the Carolina Panthers (5-5) in Week 11 of the 2025 NFL season on Sunday. The game will kick off at 1 p.m. ET from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Panthers suffered a 17-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints in Week 10. However, they will look to bounce back to winning ways to remain in the hunt for the playoffs.

The Falcons, on the other hand, will be desperate to break their losing run.
