A WWE legend recently admitted to having had a secret meeting with MJF regarding the former returning for a final match. According to an ex-champion, the reason for MJF's interest in the match is directly related to his condition in AEW.

MJF is widely considered to be one of the best, if not the best, stars on Tony Khan's roster. The 29-year-old had captured the attention of fans with his in-ring skill, as well as exceptional talent on the mic. According to Mick Foley, MJF's ideas about a potential final match impressed him greatly.

Speaking on The Wrestling Outlaws, former NWA World's Heavyweight Champion EC3 shared his thoughts on the meeting and stated that MJF had transcended everyone in AEW, so he needed legends to play around with:

"I mean MJF has the voice, the roots, the platform, if Mick wants to do one more. You know, big scene, I think that would probably be pretty good, and I don't know what he can really do but, short of be himself... I think MJF always needs something, like a guy like Mick, if he is on his game, to take him up a level. I don't think he often gets that in AEW, because he is already better than everybody, like he had with Punk. Just these guys that can bring him up a level from, different levels of experience." The WWE legend is not optimistic about the final match taking place

While Mick Foley is certainly interested in returning to the ring, it appears the match will not be happening anytime soon.

Speaking in an exclusive video for Sportskeeda, the WWE legend stated that despite his enthusiasm, it was unlikely that the bout would actually take place. He said:

"MJF, I wish I could do it. The battle of Long Island. Can you imagine that, Nassau Coliseum. The battle of Long Island, ah, it would be epic. But alas, at this point, it does not seem like it's meant to be. But that's my answer, and I am sticking to it." [1:27 onwards]

As of now, it remains to be seen if Mick Foley will ever return to the ring or to WWE.
