Brahim Diaz is staying put. The 25-year-old winger has agreed to a new long-term deal with Real Madrid, which now ends weeks of speculation about his future.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano-- all terms have been finalized, and the contract is expected to be signed in the coming days.

Diaz had a breakout campaign last season where his impact off the bench became vital to Los Blancos’ rotation under Carlo Ancelotti, and his efforts didn’t go unnoticed.

New manager Xabi Alonso, who is set to introduce a fresh tactical identity, reportedly pushed for the deal himself after being impressed by Diaz’s adaptability and attacking spark.

This will be Diaz’s second contract extension in two years, having already signed a deal in 2023 that ran until 2027.

Under the new agreement, he will now extend his stay for the next five years; his €750 million [$866m] buyout clause remains unchanged, which is a clear message to interested Premier League clubs, several of whom had been circling the Moroccan international.

Alonso’s faith indicates a bigger role ahead

What makes this renewal more than just a contract is Alonso’s direct influence.

The former midfield maestro, now at the helm, is known for valuing players who thrive between the lines, and Brahim fits the mold.

Though often used as a substitute last season, his sharp footwork and vision could now earn him a more central role, especially with the FIFA Club World Cup going on.

Diaz becomes the second player to sign a new deal this summer after Marco Asensio.

Real Madrid are also preparing contract talks with goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.
