Real Madrid star drops transfer exit bombshell despite Carlo Ancelotti claim

4 hours ago 1

Real Madrid's squad could undergo some major changes as Xabi Alonso puts his stamp on the squad this summer.

Los Blancos have fallen short across all competitions so far this season with defeat to Barcelona in the La Liga title race and the Copa del Rey final.

Carlo Ancelotti's side were dumped out of the UEFA Champions League by Arsenal and those failures have ultimately cost the Italian his job.

As Ancelotti breezes out of Madrid, to take charge of the Brazil national team, Alonso is on course to replace him in the Spanish capital.

Alonso has reportedly already set out some key transfer targets with Trent Alexander-Arnold expected to be his first arrival.

However, the sweeping alterations could include some big-name exits from Madrid, with Brazil international Rodrygo Goes potentially leading the exodus.

Is Rodrygo leaving Real Madrid?

Rodrygo has played a crucial role for Real Madrid under Ancelotti with 50 goals scored across all competitions since the start of 2022/23.

The 24-year-old remained on the bench for Real Madrid title-defence-ending defeat at Barcelona on May 11 which has heightened the growing exit talk.

Ancelotti answered questions about his decision not to bring on his No.11 against their Catalan rivals as he was not fully fit.

As per reports from Marca, Rodrgyo's frustration has continued to grow, as he feels sidelined by the huge focus on Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham.

Rodrygo of Real Madrid

Rodrygo's place in Alonso's plans is also unclear - with the former midfielder aiming to bring Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen - and he could opt for a Premier League move.

Both sides could accept an exit, if an offer in the region of £85m [$114m] lands, with Arsenal and Liverpool both monitoring the situation with interest.

The club hierarchy are rumoured to be annoyed with Rodrygo's stance over no longer being viewed as a crucial star and the new wave of arrivals may need to be financed by a big-money sale.
