Real Madrid academy graduate Alvaro Rodriguez has opened up about his future at Santiago Bernabeu ahead of the upcoming season.
Rodriguez started his senior career with Real Madrid's B team in 2021 and received his first call-up to the senior side in October 2022. He was then loaned to Getafe in August last year for the 2024/25 season.
Rodriguez turned heads in 2023 after he scored an important goal for Los Blancos against Atletico Madrid in the Madrid derby. However, that was not enough for him to seal a regular spot in Real Madrid's squad.
Now, with Xabi Alonso in charge as Real Madrid head coach, another of their academy graduate, Gonzalo Garcia, has become a prominent name, especially after his performances in the Club World Cup.
However, Rodriguez was unable to seize the opportunity to be included in the squad that made the trip to the United States for the competition.
Rodriguez recently spoke about his situation at the Spanish giants, claiming that even though playing for Real Madrid is his dream, he believes he has to part ways with the La Liga side for the time being.

What did Alvaro Rodriguez say about his future at Real Madrid?
While speaking to Post United, Rodriguez hinted at his possible departure from Real Madrid this summer. He revealed receiving offers from Espanyol, Barcelona, and Manchester United prior to signing for Los Blancos.
Rodriguez also mentioned his 'goal of returning' to Real Madrid in the future, and said,
"I'm 20 years old, I think I have to leave, I can't wait much longer for the first team. I'll continue on my path with the goal of returning. My dream is to play for Real Madrid and I'm going to fight to achieve it, but to do that I have to leave first. I could have gone to the World Cup, but I understand why they gave Gonzalo the opportunity," as per GOAL.
"When I signed for Madrid, teams like Espanyol and Barça wanted me. My mother told my agent that I would only go to Madrid, and they hadn't called me yet. I think United also called about me. My manager even gave me an English dictionary."
Rodriguez prefers making a move away from Santiago Bernabeu in the preseason rather than midway through the upcoming campaign, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Two newly promoted La Liga clubs, Levante and Elche, are reportedly interested in acquiring Rodriguez's signature, while Rayo Vallecano might also consider making an offer for him.
Rodriguez has made a total of 10 appearances for Real Madrid and has registered one goal and one assist.
