RBC’s McKay, Fortress co-CEO to join Milken Toronto event next month

The Milken Institute will hold a summit in Toronto for the first time next month, coinciding with an investment conference that Prime Minister Mark Carney is organizing in his effort to attract more capital to Canada.

The institute’s one-day event, called Global Dialogues Toronto, is taking place Sept. 14 at the Park Hyatt hotel, according to a statement seen by Bloomberg News. Royal Bank of Canada chief executive Dave McKay, Fortress Investment Group LLC Co-CEO Jack Neumark, Toronto-Dominion Bank CEO Raymond Chun and Eldridge Capital Management LLC CEO Tony Minella are among the executives set to attend.

Milken’s first summit in the city, which was reported by Bloomberg earlier this year, is set to include panels on financing Canada’s growth, artificial intelligence and investing in “industries that are changing the world.”

“As investors navigate a more fragmented and unpredictable global landscape, Canada is emerging as a beacon of resilience anchored by strong institutions, critical mineral wealth, and a fast-growing innovation economy,” Milken Institute Executive Vice President Laura Deal Lacey said in the statement.

Carney has made attracting private capital and diversifying Canada’s trade relationships the core goals of his economic agenda. Over the past year, Canada has secured more than 20 new economic and defence partnerships, the government has said.
