Ravens sign up swimming legend Michael Phelps for unexpected task in Baltimore

The Baltimore Ravens have called on Michael Phelps for help.

Yes, that Michael Phelps, the swimming legend. And even more exciting, Phelps has offered his assistance.

Confused yet? The NFL's Ravens have installed a new pool in their team facility. But they aren't all capable of swimming, reveals a social media video they posted.

“Mr. Phelps, we have a problem," the video begins. "Did you know that one in three Ravens cannot swim? We have a solution for you, sir. Come to Ravens training camp and this beautiful aquatic center and teach us how to swim."

Phelps commented on the video: “I got yall!!! Let’s do it!!”

The legendary Phelps won 23 Olympic gold medals in pools for the United States.

Phelps is also from Baltimore and a known Ravens fan.

It's a perfect connection, really.

Phelps also runs a foundation in his name that promotes learning how to swim as a means of drowning prevention while also sharing the mental and physical benefits of swimming.

And it seems like now, he'll get the chance to share that with the Ravens.

Football players on defense talk about having a swim move. This will take that meaning to a whole new level.

The Ravens are moving toward a big season ahead, so any possible growth in athleticism they can gain from the pool could be worthwhile.

Browns aside, the AFC North is strong, with the Bengals and Joe Burrow and the Steelers with T.J. Watt and Aaron Rodgers. Any edge the Ravens can find, even if it comes from an unlikely place like Phelps, could make all the difference in the end.
