Ravens ‘preparing for life’ without Justin Tucker after major decision

3 hours ago 1

The Baltimore Ravens' Justin Tucker era may soon be over.

For the first time ever, the Ravens drafted a kicker (Tyler Loop in the sixth round).

ESPN beat writer Jamison Hensley can see the writing on the wall.

Here's how Hensley explains the situation:

"A month ago, Ravens president Sashi Brown said the team would wait for the NFL to finish its investigation on the allegations of sexual misconduct against Tucker before determining his future in Baltimore. But the Ravens made a momentous move Saturday when they drafted a kicker for the first time in their 30-year history. When the Ravens selected Tyler Loop in the sixth round, it was the first sign that Baltimore is preparing for life after Tucker."

Tucker has been with the Ravens since signing as an undrafted free agent before the 2012 season.

He has made 417 career field goals in 468 attempts. He remains the NFL's all-time leader in field goal percentage at 89.1 percent.

His 2024 was his worst on-field year, connecting on just 22-of-30 FG tries (73.3%).

The NFL is also investigating allegations that Tucker engaged in inappropriate behavior with sixteen massage therapists from 2012-2016, first reported by the Baltimore Banner.

Given the combination of factors here, the Ravens likely tipped their hand by drafting Loop.

Loop made 83.8 percent of his field goals at Arizona, a strong number given the wider hash marks in play in college. He booted a make of 62 yards, as well.

The future without Tucker may soon become the present.
