The Baltimore Ravens' kicker competition is apparently over.
According to CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, the Ravens are waiving kicker John Hoyland, which leaves Tyler Loop as the only kicker on the roster.
That means Loop is now certain to be Baltimore's kicker, barring the team bringing in another form of competition.
The Athletic's Jeff Zrebiec adds that this gives Loop the opportunity to "get all of the practice and preseason reps" for Baltimore.
"Probably want to give Loop more opportunities. Feel like he's the guy, but they want to give him all the coaching and all the reps. Obviously doesn't prevent them from bringing in a veteran kicker if he falters," Zrebiec added.
Baltimore is looking for a new starting kicker after parting ways with Justin Tucker earlier this offseason following sexual misconduct allegations against him. Tucker was also hit with a 10-game suspension.
Loop was taken in the sixth round of the 2025 NFL draft, which was the first sign Tucker's days were numbered. Loop was drafted before Tucker was cut loose.
Loop has had his ups and downs this offseason, as you'd expect with a rookie. However, this move clearly shows the Ravens have confidence in him.
