Ravens aware of 'pretty simple math' regarding playoff hopes

The Baltimore Ravens sit at 1-5 and are coming off their bye week as they look to turn this troubled ship around as the playoffs, at least right now, are a long way off.

Lamar Jackson is hoping to return in Week 8 against the Chicago Bears, and most know that anything other than a win would likely end Baltimore's playoff hopes, which are already thin, and being just seven games into the year, that isn't ideal.

As far as what it will take to make the playoffs for the Ravens, many have been doing the calculations regarding how many wins will be needed to make it to the postseason.

But for head coach John Harbaugh, it really isn't that hard to figure out.

“It’s not that hard to figure out, it’s pretty simple math,” Harbaugh said. “I don’t have to think that long about it to be honest with you. I know winning the next game would go a long way in helping us. We understand it’s a challenge, but we also know we’re playing the game Sunday and we have an opportunity and we want to make the most of it.”

Ravens know perfection might be needed for playoff hope

At a quick glance, one can say with some confidence that 10 wins might be required to sneak into a wildcard spot and that would mean Baltimore would have to win nine out of their 11 remaining games, which is a herculean thing to do.

Could the Ravens do it? Absolutely, but that means the franchise just about has to run the table even to be a chance. However, they can't get caught up in the bigger picture, it all starts with a small step against the Bears, because if the Ravens don't win that, it is likely season over.

So, start with what is in front of you, which is what Harbaugh is talking about and perform at a high level to get what would be a much-needed win.

The Ravens are in full-go mode and know that even if they are perfect the rest of the way, it might not be enough to punch their ticket to the playoffs.
