The Toronto Raptors apparently went fishing for a center ahead of the NBA's trade deadline.
They didn't get a big fish, though.
On Wednesday night, ESPN's Shams Charania reported that the Raptors got Trayce Jackson-Davis in a trade from the Golden State Warriors for the Lakers' 2026 second-round pick.
Jackson-Davis has averaged 6.6 points per game in his NBA career as an undersized 6-foot-9 center.

There was apparently so much more on the table, too.
ESPN's Tim McMahon reported that the Raptors pursued both Anthony Davis and Jaren Jackson Jr. in trades.
Davis ended up going to the Washington Wizards in a trade, and he'll pair with Trae Young there on a very new-look roster.
Jackson went to the Utah Jazz in a trade from Memphis, pushing the Jazz toward more competitiveness, too.
Toronto has to settle for Jackson-Davis.

TJD was originally the 57th pick in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Indiana.
He is putting up 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds per game this season.
Jackson-Davis rarely attempts 3-points and is a bad foul shooter, so he's really just an athletic, energy big and not really a starting solution, unlike those stars the Raptors were after.
Sometimes, you swing and miss, and the Raptors only made weak contact here.
