The Raptors have added another solid wing player to their roster after selecting Collin Murray-Boyles with the No. 9 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

The South Carolina product lands with a 30-win team from 2024-25 that is looking to get back to the postseason for the first time since 2022. In an Eastern Conference that appears to be wide open, he could become a difference-maker by the end of this upcoming season.

Raptors projected starting five

Here is what Toronto's starting five could look like next season, after the selection of ().

  • PG Immanuel Quickly
  • SG RJ Barrett
  • SF Brandon Ingram
  • PF Scottie Barnes
  • C Jakob Poeltl

While Murray-Boyles is an infusion of talent, the Raptors will most likely go with their starting lineup from late last season, which features their five best players.

The "BBQ" trio of Barrett, Barnes, and Quickly has long been viewed as the nucleus in Toronto. After failing to acquire Kevin Durant (in a trade that would have likely involved Barrett), the Raptors are rolling with it heading into 2025-26.

Ingram was acquired at the deadline last season to give Toronto another scorer and wing defender, and the hope is that he will mesh well with the core this season. Poeltl enjoyed the best statistical season of his career in 2024-25, and he'll be the starting center.

The versatile Murray-Boyles, who averaged 16.8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks last year, is long and athletic, but he's going to need time to develop before getting significant minutes, especially given his poor outside shooting (26.5% from deep last year on just over one attempt per game). He looks like he could be a Swiss-Army knife player if he reaches his ceiling.
