Raptors' Kawhi Leonard trade not finalized yet for Brandon Ingram reason

The Los Angeles Clippers and Toronto Raptors made a blockbuster deal involving Kawhi Leonard and Brandon Ingram.

The biggest piece of the puzzle was Leonard going back to Toronto, a place he won a championship a few years ago.

Leonard, getting later in his career, has a real opportunity to go back and win some more. Toronto looks to be a very good team, though the Clippers aspect of all this is very interesting.

Ingram is a decent player in his own right, but not great. The idea of him is probably better than the actual player that we see, but that doesn't mean he's some negative player who can't be used on teams like Los Angeles.

However, because this trade isn't finalized, some are starting to wonder whether the Clippers are looking to move on from Ingram in a larger deal.

“The fact that the Clippers and Raptors have not processed the Kawhi Leonard trade is likely due to LA trying to find a team to take on Brandon Ingram, who is on a deal with two years and $82 million remaining (including a player option),” Sean Deveny wrote.

I don't think it would be the worst idea for the Clippers to consider moving on from Ingram. However, they also have to get a proper return for him, as they should still be able to get a pick or two and/or a young player.

I don't think he'll go for much, but if Los Angeles really doesn't want him, there's no reason to keep him around.
