Rangers K'Andre Miller on the move for $60 million

According to insider Elliotte Freidman, the Carolina Hurricanes are pulling off a Mitch Marner style sign and trade move with the New York Rangers for K'Andre Miller. The contract with the Canes for Miller will come in at a cap hit of $60 million over 8 years. That would make for an average annual value of $7.5 million over the course of that long term contract.

The full details of the trade including the return for New York are pending but this is a big move for the Carolina Hurricanes to beef up their D core. Especially with the loss of veteran defenseman Brent Burns, Miller will be able to substitute and be a minute muncher on the Canes blueline. The Hurricanes are still looking to break through past the eastern conference finals come playoff time. This could be a potential piece to help get them over the hump.

The 25 year old has shown promise in the start of his NHL career but lacked consistency during his time with the Rangers. Perhaps, the defensive hotbed of Carolina will provide him with the fresh start he's needed. He will have the opportunity to play with a D core that includes the likes of top defensive defenseman Jaccob Slavin.

The 2018 first round pick produced 7 goals and 20 assists for 27 points in 74 games last season. Over the course of his 5 year tenure with the Rangers, the Minnesota native has recorded 36 goals and 96 assists for 132 points in 368 games.
