Wyatt Langford was the tying run, and he stole second base.
Somehow, though, that wasn't good enough. After replay review, the Rangers rising star was ruled out. Instead of the tying run on second with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, the Dodgers were high-fiving as 1-0 winners.
To be fair to the umpires, it was a super close call.
Langford slid in with his lead foot, definitely safe initially.
The call became tricky when Langford's momentum started to pop his foot just a bit off the base. But at that moment, it doesn't appear Miguel Rojas is tagging him.
By the time the tip of Langford's foot is back on the bag, it still seems like he hasn't quite been tagged again.
Again, very close, but brutal break for the Rangers.

A key factor here was likely the call on the field.
The umpires ruled Langford out live. It is tough to watch the replay and come to absolutely distinct evidence that the call was wrong.
It's part of what makes replay review tricky in baseball. The spirit of it isn't to get guys out after a slide for a miniscule moment of leaving the bag.
But that's what slow-motion replays allow for. And in this case, it cost the Rangers and bailed out the Dodgers.
