The New York Rangers need help in defense.
And luckily enough for them, a defenseman projected to make $8 million per year wants to come play for the Rangers in free agency.
That'd be Los Angeles Kings defenseman Vladislav Gavrikov. NHL insider David Pagnotta writes that New York is part of a "short list of teams he is interested in joining."
Reports indicate Gavrikov would love an extension with the Kings, but if that doesn't happen, keep an eye on the Rangers.
Gavrikov could be a direct replacement if K'Andre Miller is traded elsewhere.

The 29-year old Gavrikov averaged 23:05 in ice time in 2024-25, a career high.
He's less of a high-upside attacker as Miller, but he's a sturdy defender who can shore up the back end for the Rangers.
The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Russian is coming off 30 points in a season for the first time since 2022, as well, so he can get the job done in the offensive zone.
The Athletic's James Mirtle previously wrote that Gavrikov could get as much as $8.5 million per season.
If the Rangers want him, they'll have to pay up.
