Rams handed troubling worst-case scenario prediction for 2026 season

2 hours ago 3

The Los Angeles Rams are projected to be one of the top teams, if not the top team, in the 2026 season.

The Rams have built a formidable squad that has a real chance to win the Lombardi Trophy this upcoming season. They have put themselves in the best position to do so; however, it is far from a guarantee that they will be.

Los Angeles must first go through the rugged 17-game season and playoffs, if it is fortunate enough to get there. A ton of things could go right, but a ton of things could go wrong as well.

Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports did a best-and worst-case scenario for every team this upcoming season. Here's what Sullivan had to say about the Rams' worst-case scenario in 2026.

"The defense improves with Garrett and McDuffie, but not as much as the Rams hoped. After winning the MVP award last season, Father Time starts to chip away at 38-year-old [Matthew] Stafford and 33-year-old Davante Adams. That brings the Rams down a notch, opening the door for both the Seahawks and 49ers to leapfrog them in the NFC West race."

Now, Sullivan is not saying this will happen; however, that could be the worst-case scenario for the Rams, who are expected to be the last team standing for the 2026 season.

Rams looking to capitalize on loaded roster

There are no guarantees in the league. However, if the Rams are healthy (for the most part) and play up to their capabilities, they have a great shot to win it all. Los Angeles has put themselves in a great position to make a deep playoff run, but only time will tell how that all plays out.

On paper, the Rams offense is projected to be just as good or even better in 2026. As for their defense, it could be among the top units in the entire league thanks to the additions of Trent McDuffie and Myles Garrett.

The NFL season is always unpredictable, and unexpected challenges are bound to arise. However, the Rams have the right leadership, coaching staff, and roster in place to weather any storm.

Los Angeles possesses proven veterans, tremendous young talents, and one of the league's most respected front offices. With that at their disposal, there is plenty of reason to believe Los Angeles will be fine throughout the course of the season, barring anything catastrophic.
