The Los Angeles Rams are coming out of their Week 8 bye with a 5-2 record and looking to make some gains in the NFC West. With the San Francisco 49ers' loss on Sunday in Week 8, the Rams now have a chance to separate themselves from the division title.
But they will have to contend with the Seattle Seahawks, and to do so, they need to make some moves at the deadline. Their top need with a little over a week to go until the trade deadline is at cornerback, and after weeks of speculation, they're finally making a move.
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Rams are making a trade with the Tennessee Titans, acquiring cornerback Roger McCreary for a conditional pick swap. The Rams are finally landing their new starting cornerback.
Rams trade for Roger McCreary from Titans ahead of deadline
"Trade: Titan are sending CB Roger McCreary to the Rams for a conditional 5th-6th round pick swap, per sources," Schefter reported on Monday.

The conditions surrounding the pick swap were also reported on by Schefter. It's a condition that isn't tied to any on-field performance, but rather where the draft picks wind up.
"Titans get 5th-round pick closer to the beginning of the round, which most likely will be Titans' original 5th round pick." Schefter reports. "Rams receive the 6th-round pick that is closest to the end of the round. Titans currently have three 6th-round picks."
Put in another way, the Rams are giving up a 5th-round pick that is he highest of their 5th-rounders for McCreary and the latest of the Titans' three 6th-round picks.

The 25-year-old cornerback is joining the Rams' defensive backfield to be a key starter for Los Angeles this season. Down in Tennessee, McCreary has recorded one interception, two passes defended, one sack, and 33 tackles on the year.
On 28 targets this season, he's allowed 242 passing yards and two touchdowns, good for a 111.6 passer rating. While not great, the Titans' defense as a whole has been subpar this season, and moving to a contending Rams team could help the fourth-year cornerback turn things around in 2025.
He's going ot be a free agent after 2025, so this is a one-year rental for the Rams. It's a move that was very much needed for Los Angeles, as their cornerback room with Decobie Durant, Darious Williams, Emmanuel Forbes, Tre Brown, and Josh Wallace needed some help. They're getting said help in the form of a young Titans cornerback in Roger McCreary.
