Oregon Ducks quarterback Dylan Raiola struggled last week and was benched. He got a shot at redemption against a school he once called home: the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Raiola was benched last week, losing his starting spot to third-string quarterback Brock Thomas. His play suffered, costing the Ducks a home loss in a ranked Big Ten showdown. He was granted a second chance on Saturday.
With Dante Moore still on the injury report, the Ducks have struggled to find consistency at quarterback over the last three weeks. Thomas and the Ducks offense were scoreless in the first half.
Thomas was 9-of-20 for 54 yards and threw an interception, and the offense had only scored six points before being pulled.
Raiola entered the game in the fourth quarter to start for Oregon with a 14-6 deficit. The offense came alive when the third-year quarterback took over. He led them downfield to score the game-winning touchdown, the Ducks' only touchdown of the game.
Raiola finished the game completing 11-of-19 passes for 59 yards and a touchdown.
“I love Nebraska, that's my home. My first two years there, it was home. I love the fans, I love everybody there, but it was about Oregon tonight,” Raiola said in his postgame interview.
Moore still has no official return date, but if he can't play again in week 8, will Raiola be the number one guy again?
Oregon hits the road to play Illinois on Saturday, October 24 (3 p.m. ET).
