As if the Buffalo Bills didn't have enough needs on the defensive side of the ball already, we can now add edge rusher to the list.
During the Bills' impressive Week 9 win over the Kansas City Chiefs, defensive end Michael Hoecht suffered a season-ending torn Achilles, which is just the latest devastating blow to the team's defensive line.
Now, the team is without Hoecht, Ed Oliver and DeWayne Carter for the rest of the regular season, and T.J. Sanders is still on injured reserve and DaQuan Jones is recovering from a calf injury.
One team the Bills should be targeting for more help is the Las Vegas Raiders, who figure to have two low-cost options available.
According to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer, former No. 7 overall pick Tyree Wilson is available at the trade deadline.
"One interesting name on the trade block that I didn’t mention in my Friday notes is former No. 7 pick pick Tyree Wilson," Breer reported. "He’s clearly not what Vegas hoped for in 2023, but there’s still some promise for the 25-year-old as a supersized edge who can bump inside and rush on passing downs."
In addition to Wilson, the Raiders are also believed to be open to trading fellow edge rusher Malcolm Koonce, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Wilson's career has been a huge disappointment, but adding him would be better than nothing. Wilson has tallied 10 sacks over two-plus seasons, including two in 2025, and he offers inside/outside versatility.
In fact, Wilson has played some of his best football when lining up on the interior. That kind of versatility would be huge for a Bills defense that needs help in both areas.
Koonce, on the other hand, is a straight edge rusher. He had a breakout campaign in 2023 after tallying eight sacks, but he didn't suit up at all in 2024 because of a torn ACL.
Koonce is having a quiet first half this season with just one sack, but he could get better in the second half the further removed he is from his knee injury.
While Koonce will be a free agent in 2026, Wilson still has one more year left on his deal, so he could be more than a rental. Both players are on relatively cheap contracts, which is good news with the Bills' tight cap space situation.
When it comes to cost, neither one should garner more than a Day 3 pick. Wilson might be a round more expensive than Koonce will be, but that only makes sense given Wilson's contract situation, recent production and versatility.
Either way, acquiring one of the Raiders' edge rushers would be a good move for Buffalo.
