Raiders trade candidate predicted to land with Cowboys in blockbuster deal

The Dallas Cowboys were expected to address their defense in a big way this offseason after that side of the ball kept them out of the playoffs in 2025.

Instead, Dallas has made a series of uninspiring moves on defense that do not move the needle all that much. In fairness, it hasn't been for a lack of trying, at least when it comes to one star edge rusher who was on the trade block.

That edge rusher was Las Vegas Raiders star Maxx Crosby, who the Cowboys were in hot pursuit of before he ultimately landed with the Baltimore Ravens, who then turned around and cancelled the trade because of a failed physical, or so they say.

FanSided's Wynston Wilcox doesn't think the Cowboys are done with Crosby and is predicting he will eventually land with Dallas in a blockbuster trade with Las Vegas.

Here's what Wilcox said about his prediction:

Jerry Jones has been patient in the Cowboys’ pursuit for a new EDGE rusher after they traded Micah Parsons before the start of the 2025 season. With all the cap space created from contract restructuring and the dissolving free agency market, Crosby is probably the only player the Cowboys should be interested in landing before the season starts. Sure, he’ll be expensive, but if Jones wants a championship-caliber defense, he has to dig deeper into his pockets to make it happen.

While the Cowboys should absolutely still pull the trigger on a Crosby trade, it's hard to fathom that happening, at least for now.

Crosby has stated his intention to play for the Raiders after the failed Ravens trade and there has been nothing to indicate Las Vegas is desperate to trade him.

The belief is that the Raiders could still consider trading Crosby, but they won't do it for anything less than the two first-round picks they initially received from Baltimore.

Seeing as how the Cowboys weren't willing to give up that much the first time around, chances are that hasn't changed.

But we could see things changing on both sides during the season if things go south for the Raiders and the Cowboys are looking for a missing piece on defense.

So, while we don't expect Crosby to be dealt now, it's not crazy to think Dallas and Las Vegas could revisit talks at the trade deadline.
