After he failed to grab the starting job out of training camp, quarterback Anthony Richardson's days with the Indianapolis Colts might be numbered.
The Colts opted to roll with veteran Daniel Jones instead, which was just the latest crushing blow to the Florida product's career. Before that, Richardson's stint in the league was marred by injury and ineffective play.
But he's still just 23 years old and there could be interest for him as a developmental option around the league if the Colts do decide to part with Richardson via trade.
Pro Football & Sports Network's Tim Crean believes the New Orleans Saints, Las Vegas Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns could have interest.
A trade for Richardson would definitely make the most sense for the Steelers and Raiders. After all, both teams don't have a long-term solution at the position.
Pittsburgh is rolling with 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers for 2025, but there's a better chance than not he won't last more than one season, as he could very well choose retirement in 2026.
The Raiders have Geno Smith, but his days with the Seattle Seahawks tell us he's anything but a sure thing to be able to get the team over the hump.
Adding to that, he'll be 35 next month, so he's no spring chicken, and while Smith is signed through 2027, the Raiders can easily get out of his deal that year.
Richardson is far from a guarantee to be the future under center for either team, but he would at least give the Raiders and Steelers an option.
Richardson has one more year left on his rookie deal, so he could sit the rest of this season an learn from an established starter in Pittsburgh or Las Vegas before being thrown into a starting competition in 2026.
Acquiring Richardson doesn't make as much sense for the Browns and Saints, both of whom have young quarterbacks on the roster already.
The Saints just used a second-round pick on Tyler Shough in the 2025 draft and the jury is still out on him after he failed to grab the starting job out of training camp.
The Browns have two 2025 draft picks in their quarterbacks room in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders and will likely want to get a look at him before trying to add another young quarterback to the mix.
