The Las Vegas Raiders are on the fast track to another dreadful season after a 1-4 start and general manager John Spytek should be looking to deal assets to help the team kickstart a rebuild.
Despite this being Spytek's and head coach Pete Carroll's first year in Las Vegas, they decided against blowing it up and instead attempted to compete right away.
But that has not worked out at all. Quarterback Geno Smith was supposed to be a big upgrade, but he has proven to be anything but that and is the biggest reason for the team's putrid start.
With the Raiders on track to be sellers at the deadline, Pro Football & Sports Network's Josh Weil predicts the team will unload Jakobi Meyers.
Weil takes it a step further and predicts the Raiders will make a trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers that lands a fourth-round pick for Meyers.
Aaron Rodgers’ short passing scheme is working very well, and bringing in WR Jakobi Meyers, who seems to have fallen out of favor in Las Vegas after requesting a trade, seems like a great fit. He had a great season last year and was by far the top receiving option on the team, so he is accustomed to that attention. But playing next to DK Metcalf could elevate his game to a level we haven’t seen before.
Meyers is in the final year of his $33 million contract and failed to get an extension done with the Raiders during the offseason, which led to him requesting a trade the team didn't oblige.
Now, it's safe to assume Meyers is likely leaving Las Vegas after this season, so the Raiders must get something for him before that happens.
The Steelers are a logical landing spot thanks to their shaky situation at wide receiver. The team was already short behind DK Metcalf and now Calvin Austin, who is better suited as a No. 3 receiver but is Pittsburgh's No. 2, is injured.
Meyers would be a perfect addition for the Steelers. He has proven to be a very good No. 2 receiver during his career with four seasons of at least 800 yards, and Meyers has accomplished that feat with a list of lackluster quarterbacks.
The Steelers showed they're at least trying to go for it in 2025 after signing Aaron Rodgers. Now, they need to further prove that by going out and getting a wide receiver — and Meyers would be just what the doctor ordered.
