Ashton Jeanty is hoping to become one of the greatest players in Raiders history.
To do so, he's going to have to overcome some bad jersey number precedent with his new digit.
On Thursday, it was announced that Jeanty will wear the number 2 for Las Vegas.
The most famous No. 2 in Raiders history prior to now? One of the greatest NFL Draft busts of all time, JaMarcus Russell.
Jeanty apparently got kicker Daniel Carlson to give up No. 2, which he had worn since 2020.
The other Raiders to wear No. 2 in team history are Terrelle Pryor, Aaron Brooks, A.J. McCarren, Giorgio Tavecchio and Leo Araguz.
Jeanty joined the Raiders as the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
He was the Heisman Trophy runner-up at Boise State.

Jeanty was the unquestioned RB1 in his draft class, with the only question whether he'd even make it to the Vegas pick at sixth overall.
In the end, the Jaguars moved up to No. 2 to take Travis Hunter and the Browns opted for defensive line help (Mason Graham) in the No. 5 spot they dropped back into.
That set the Raiders up to land Jeanty.
Now, he's showing he doesn't care about negative history with this jersey number choice.
Raiders fans hope Jeanty makes it all his own in the best way possible.
