The chatter around LeBron James' position on the LA Lakers roster has picked up lately. Now, Jason Whitlock has joined the voices and wants James to play the second fiddle to Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

On Thursday, Whitlock said on his "Fearless" podcast that the 2x NBA champion had a great team around him to contend for the titles. However, the commentator added a big condition for James for the Lakers to succeed.

"LeBron James might want to snap out of it and realize that, uh, he's got a heck of a team here if he's willing to uh, back up his ego and play second fiddle to the exciting whites," Whitlock said. (Starts at 0:30)

The podcast host went to label LeBron James as a "racial idolator," who didn't want to defer to white players.

"And I think that's where LeBron perhaps has a problem. He doesn't want to defer the exciting whites. LeBron is a racial idolator and you know I think he's kind of uncomfortable with Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves being the face of a super competitive LA Lakers team."

James is yet to make his return to the Lakers roster this season. Without him, both Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves have played like All-Stars. James is too great to break the team's chemistry to cost the team a season just because it didn't suit his ego.

Paul Pierce Suggests Lakers Trade LeBron James

Paul Pierce wanted the Lakers to trade LeBron James. When the 2008 NBA champion floated the idea to Kevin Garnett on the "KG Certified" podcast, the latter asked Pierce for a fitting scenario for the 4x NBA champion.

"Maybe Cleveland, where you can get Jarrett Allen or Garland or Hunter or something like that? And you still keep Donovan Mitchell and Mobley and you add Bron to that," stated Pierce. (Timestamp 18:05)

Pierce added that with James added to the roster, the Cavs will have leadership and a chance to get out of the East.

"Because they look like they're struggling now, Cleveland, out the gate. You add some leadership over there with Bron, and especially the East, it makes sense for both teams."

While Pierce is right in his own sense, it is also true that LeBron James is on a better team in the Lakers. He has a better chance of winning if he remains in LA. However, in a hyper-competitive conference, the Lakers still have a lot to address in their roster.
