Quinta Brunson Breaks Silence on Kevin Anik Divorce

Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson and Husband Kevin Anik Break Up After 3 Years of Marriage

Quinta Brunson wants to keep her personal life out of the tabloids.

Three months after she filed for divorce from husband Kevin Anik, the Abbott Elementary star shared insight into how difficult it was to cope with the split while living in the spotlight.

“I remember seeing people be like, ‘She announced her divorce,’” Quinta told Bustle in an interview published June 30. “I didn’t announce anything.”

“I think people have this idea that people in the public eye want the public to know their every move,” she continued. “None of us do. I promise you. No one wants [everyone] to know when you buy a house, when you move, when a major change happens in your personal life. It’s just that that’s public record information.”

And when the interviewer admitted she had also seen a story about the actress buying a house the year prior, Quinta doubled down on how jarring it was to see headlines about her personal life.

“I hated that,” she admitted. “I hate all of it.”

But for the 35-year-old—who got her start at Buzzfeed before taking on roles in shows like Big Mouth and creating the Emmy-winning show inspired by her mother’s 40 years as a teacher—she found that her newfound success made the extra public attention inevitable.

“I love my fans, I love the people who watch Abbott,” Quinta expressed. “But when it comes to matters of your personal life, you do have to tune it out.”

“Those are invisible voices that aren’t in your home with you,” she added, “that aren’t in your personal life, that aren’t your friends.”

And while she and Kevin—who tied the knot in October 2021—largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight throughout their relationship, the actress would offer an occasional glimpse into their sweet bond.

As her ABC sitcom achieved critical success, she recognized her then-partner for being the “biggest support” and having “no need to dim” her achievements.

“That allows me to love him fully,” she told Business Insider in November 2022, “and be the person that I want to be, and am meant to be.”

When she accepted her first-ever Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series that same year, she echoed the sentiment.

“I need to thank my wonderful husband,” she gushed during her speech, “because he's the most supportive man I've ever known.”
