Quentin Tarantino and Kylie Minogue had residents of a tiny town in Wales doing double takes over the weekend when they were spotted filming together in Porthcawl — population 16,000.
A local Welsh outlet reported today that, “Locals were left rubbing their eyes in disbelief” when they spotted the pop star and the Hollywood director, “filming a movie in several locations at the seaside.” They were, “shooting scenes of a funeral at Newton Church and a wake at the Saltwater Inn.”
Turns out Tarantino and Minogue are co-starring in a film by Welsh filmmaker Jamie Adams, a resident of the town, which also features a cast of Welsh actors. A member of the Porthcawl Male Choir dished on details from the film on a community Facebook group after the singers were in some scenes as well with the stars.

The “Pulp Fiction” director Tarantino previously starred in another film by Adams, “Only What We Carry,” that debuted earlier this month at Tribeca Festival, and also features Simon Pegg and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
That film shot in six days in France.

Adams first cast Tarantino by cold calling him: “I sent him the story outline and a letter,” the director previously told Variety. “I didn’t think I’d hear back. But two weeks later, on a Sunday, his agent emailed saying Quentin was intrigued and wanted a Zoom.”
Variety also reported that Adams met at Tribeca with producers from a NYC company, Visor Entertainment, which is backing the new film.
