Puka Nacua posts ‘Sam Darnold’ in odd Super Bowl callout

Puka Nacua’s verbal barbs this week apparently weren’t limited to just the Rams’ fanbase.

Just days after taking a swipe at Los Angeles supporters for not showing out at Rams home games, the 24-year-old wideout seemed to throw some shade Sam Darnold’s way.

Rams receiver Puka Nacua took to his X page during Super Bowl LX and wrote “Sam Darnold” with a crying emoji. X/Puka Nacua

At some point during Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Calif., Nacua took to his X page and appeared to jab at the Seahawks’ QB1.

Nacua typed out “Sam Darnold” and added a crying emoji, and more than a few in the NFL world took it as a dig.

Emmanuel Acho was certainly one who believed Nacua was laughing at Darnold for a poor play he made in Seattle’s 29-13 victory over the Patriots, and he ripped the receiver on social media for the post.

“Puka needs to chill out and give Sam Darnold his RESPECT!” Acho wrote on X. “Sam Darnold beat Puka and then won a Super Bowl, what the heck Puka laughing for?!”

Darnold and Seattle were able to make it to Sunday’s big game after they beat Nacua’s Rams in the NFC Championship on Jan. 25.

While Darnold exploded in that victory over L.A., he had a much more modest game against New England, completing just 19 of 38 passes for 202 yards and one touchdown.

Nacua, though, was complimentary of at least one Seahawk on Sunday — his former teammate, Cooper Kupp.

Nacua wrote “Cooooooop” on X, before he re-posted an image that showed Kupp being a two-time Super Bowl champion.
