NBA Opening Night value plays
- Knicks -5 (50% on ProphetX)
It's Banner Night at Madison Square Garden. Most Knicks fans never thought they'd see the day. Philadelphia has pushed all their chips into the center of the table with how much talent they brought in this offseason, but it's going to take some time for all their stars to acclimate to each other. Jaylen Brown is likely going to be the first option, with Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, and LeBron James all trying to put some points on the board as well. The Knicks, outside of Mitchell Robinson's departure to the Celtics, didn't lose or gain much this offseason. They'll be playing the same style of basketball that won them an NBA Championship; not much to complain about there.
- Thunder to win ML (45.05% on ProphetX)
Sure, the Thunder fell victim to San Antonio in the Western Conference Finals last year, but Tuesday night marks the inception of a new season. The Thunder have an advantage when it comes to depth, and Dylan Harper will now be in the starting lineup after being the best Sixth Man to come off the bench late in the postseason. He'll have another year under his belt in terms of experience, but OKC top to bottom is the better team and has more value. It's not often the team with the best record a year prior has under a 50% probability to win, so it's a must-add.
NBA Opening Night player props
- Jayson Tatum over 26.5 points (55.75% on ProphetX)
Tatum officially has the keys to this Celtics offense for the foreseeable future. He always was the first option, but with Jaylen Brown out of the picture, there isn't another marquee scorer that is capable of taking on the brunt of his workload. During last year's playoffs, Tatum only hit this line once through a 30-point effort in Game 4. Outside of Payton Pritchard and Derrick White, no one on the Celtics is capable of dropping more than 20 points on any given night. Paul George is 36 years old, and even though he did find his way to 39 points in a game last season, Father Time is ticking. Tatum looks in for a monster season in Bean Town, and that starts with a strong opening night performance against Detroit.
- Jaylen Brown over 19.5 points (64.54% on ProphetX)
Even though the Sixers have a big spotlight on them, call it the "LeBron Effect," Brown should be in for a big year in the City of Brotherly Love. In every game against the Knicks last season, the former Celtic dropped at least 23 points, including a 42-point effort. He should be his new team's first option even with the plethora of talent there, and he even cruised to an efficient 22 points against New York in the preseason. He averages 20.4 PPG in 34 games against the Knicks according to StatMuse, and he'll show that he can go over that regardless of the team name across his chest.
- Victor Wembanyama under 11.5 rebounds (49.02% on ProphetX)
Wembanyama is a freak of nature. He is one of the best players in the league, but the OKC Thunder showed they know how to limit the 7-foot-4 Frenchman's rebounding. Outside of the first two games of the series, Wembanyama wasn't able to garner over 10 rebounds for the remaining five games. He was able to find slightly more success against New York in the Finals, but OKC is a much better defensive team. Isaiah Hartenstein and Chet Holmgren will do everything in their power to seek revenge after being bested by Wemby last May.
Who will win the NBA Finals?
At the moment, eight teams have seen some prediction activity on their NBA Championship futures markets on ProphetX. Here's which teams have probabilities available to hoist the Larry O'Brien Trophy after the 2026-27 season:
| Team | % on "Yes" |
| Oklahoma City Thunder | 31.75% |
| San Antonio Spurs | 31.25% |
| Philadelphia 76ers | 12.35% |
| New York Knicks | 11.49% |
| Minnesota Timberwolves | 10% |
| Boston Celtics | 8.7% |
| Miami Heat | 6.67% |
| Toronto Raptors | 5.13% |
