Prince William and Kate Middleton were not in the know about last week’s rumored peace talks between Prince Harry’s communications team and King Charles’ press rep, according to insiders.

The Prince and Princess of Wales’s press reps were notably absent from the top-secret meeting that featured Meredith Maines and Liam Maguire, who head up the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s communication team, and Tobyn Andreae, the monarch’s communications secretary.

According to palace insiders, the future king’s team was not notified about the secret meet-up.

“It’s no coincidence that William and Catherine did not have a representative at the Royal Over-Seas League,” a source told the Daily Mail. “They were not asked to send anyone and will be treating the talks with extreme caution.”

“The fact that it ended up in the newspapers tells you all you need to know,” the insider added.

While the nature of the conversation was not immediately clear, an insider told People that the fact a conversation even took place is “a good first step.”

“It is always better to be talking,” they added.

The Post has reached out to Kensington Palace for comment.

The informal interaction took place at the Royal Over-Seas League, a private members’ club just minutes from Clarence House.

The trio initially convened on the club’s balcony before moving the conversation indoors for privacy.

The Post understands that Maines’ London dash was officially part of her routine duties.

Maines, who is the Sussexes’ chief of staff and communications director, met with the UK-based communications team, media, stakeholders and senior figures connected to Harry’s patronages. The trans-Atlantic trip was part of ongoing planning and engagement.

However, sources told The Telegraph that Harry and the “Suits” alum were “frustrated” that the meeting was leaked to the press.

The meeting came just weeks after the “Spare” author, 40, told the BBC that he would “love a reconciliation” with his cancer-stricken father, though he claimed the king “won’t speak” to him.

“There have been so many disagreements between myself and some of my family,” he told the outlet.

“I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point continuing to fight anymore, life is precious,” the Invictus Games founder said, adding that he has since “forgiven” them for their many “disagreements.”
