Prince Andrew almost fell off his horse while riding near Windsor Castle on Monday morning after his black mare seemed to get spooked.
The Duke of York’s peaceful ride quickly turned wild when his horse grew agitated. The mare thrashed about and reared its head, throwing King Charles’ younger brother off balance as he struggled to hold onto his reins and avoid a fall.
It took a few minutes for the prince to calm the horse and stabilize himself before he could continue his ride through Windsor Estate near Windsor Castle, according to Daily Mail.
The tense moment was captured in striking images obtained by The Post and showed how the dramatic situation unfolded.
Unfortunately for the prince, his pony problem pales in comparison to another bumpy ride he finds himself on: his battle with his brother over finances.
According to a new report from The Sunday Times, the “lack of closeness” between Andrew and Charles — stemming from Andrew’s past friendship with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — “has matured into outright hostility.”
This “new low in relations,” as The Times calls it, also has everything to do with Charles reportedly cutting Andrew off financially and attempting to evict him from his home, Royal Lodge — a lavish $38 million estate replete with a 30-room mansion situated on 98 acres within the grounds of Windsor Castle.
Once the home to his grandmother, The Queen Mother, he has lived resplendently on the property since 2003 when he signed a 75-year lease from the Crown Estate, paying a little over $300 weekly rent, with the proviso that he maintains the property, per The Times.
Though Charles wanted Andrew out of Royal Lodge, he offered him a new home — a less grand residence that would be more in line with the King’s vision of a “slimmed-down” monarchy. That residence was Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former UK residence, Frogmore Cottage.
Despite Harry and Meghan’s nearly $3 million renovation, Andrew deemed the five-bedroom home too meager for his tastes and refused to move out of Royal Lodge.
In a shock move, Andrew secured enough money from an unidentified financier to allow him to stay at Royal Lodge. The King has reportedly been left feeling fed up with his disgraced brother, and the two are “not speaking” amid the financial mess.
With no sign of a rapprochement on the horizon, Charles and Andrew remain locked in a stalemate. And just in time for the holidays.
