Pretty much every Lakers big guy ends up playing for the Wizards

The Los Angeles Lakers traded Deandre Ayton to the Washington Wizards on Friday.

That shouldn't have been a surprise. It's a trend.

A whole bunch of recent Lakers big guys have gone on to play for the Wizards, as The Athletic's Fred Katz pointed out on X.

Ayton hasn't actually suited up yet, but it seems like the Wizards will keep him.

The same is actually true for Anthony Davis, who didn't get on the floor after the Mavericks traded him to the Wizards last season.

Dwight Howard played for both teams.

Markieff Morris suited up for both.

Moe Wagner? Both the Lakers and the Wizards are on his resume.

JaVale McGee went in reverse.

Thomas Bryant played for the Lakers, then the Wizards.

The Deandre Ayton trade further proves one of the least credited rules in the NBA: That every Lakers big man eventually has to play for the Wizards and vice versa.

Ayton, AD, Dwight, Markieff Morris, Wagner, JaVale, Thomas Bryant — the cycle will never end.

There's obviously no actual cause for this. It's just quite the coincidence.

Ayton can at least follow in some fascinating footsteps. And he might be a fun teammate with Davis (and young big man Alex Sarr, who hasn't played for the Lakers, at least not yet).

But yeah, the Lakers to Wizards pipeline is strong.
