President Donald Trump was all smiles when he welcomed the Dodgers to the White House.
Trump even cracked a few jokes with the team Thursday during the outdoor ceremony in the Rose Garden.
Perhaps one of the funniest moments from the 2025 World Series celebration in the nation’s capital was when the president asked Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Shohei Ohtani a hilarious question.
“Who’s the better pitcher?” Trump said.
Ohtani and Yamamoto laughed along with the rest of the Dodgers’ personnel who erupted into smiles. Trump sang the Dodgers’ praises for nearly 20 minutes in a recap of the team’s success throughout the 2025 season, culminating in LA’s epic World Series win in a thrilling Game 7 against the Blue Jays.
Three notable Dodgers absent from the White House visit were Mookie Betts, Kiké Hernandez and reliever Edgardo Henriquez. Betts revealed he likely wouldn’t join his teammates at the Oval Office for family reasons.
The Dodgers traveled to Washington on their off-day during a nine-game road trip. This marked the second consecutive year that the team commemorated a World Series title at the White House.
Trump was gifted a No. 47 jersey and World Series ring from Dodgers owner Mark Walter.
There was uncertainty surrounding the Dodgers’ visit this year after scheduling conflicts prevented the team from making a stop at the White House during their opening road trip to kick off the season, which began with a three-game series against the Nationals.
